As the opening ceremony of the 13th China (Henan) International Investment and Trade Fair (CHIFIT) is around the corner, this "guide" is here for you. On April 4, the Press Office of the People's Government of Henan Province held a press conference. According to Zhang Tingming, Director-General of Henan Provincial Commerce Department, among the cooperation projects to be signed at the fair, over one third are worth more than RMB 1 billion, showing the high quality of these projects.
As the most important trade and economic activity with the highest grade and the largest scale in Henan Province, the 13th CHIFIT is co-hosted by the People's Government of Henan Province, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Henan is the first province that holds a large trade and economic event after the two sessions.

4 key events
It is learned that the CHIFIT consists of 4 key events, 4 Guest of Honor events, 12 thematic events, 6 special professional events and another 11 events hosted by other cities under the jurisdiction of the People’s Government of Henan Province, together with investment and trade exhibitions and presentations.

The opening ceremony will be held at Xuanyuan Hall of Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center (ZZICEC) at 9:00 on April 8.
The 2019 "Air Silk Road" Economic Cooperation Forum will be held at Zhongyuan Hall (1+2), Sheraton Grand Zhengzhou Hotel at 14:30 on April 8.
The 2019 matching meeting for cross-border investment and trade projects of industrial and commercial enterprises will be held at Hall AB, F2, ZZICEC at 9:40 on April 8.
Zhengzhou Forum on International Business Environment will be held at Vienna Hall, Zhengzhou Noble International Hotel at 14:30 on April 8.
There will be 12 thematic events that cover modern logistics, biomedicine, cultural tourism, health care, talent recruitment and other fields, together with special events for countries and regions like Hungary, Thailand, Latin America, Spain, Britain, Germany, South Korea, Hong Kong and Macao.

It is worth mentioning that Hungary and Thailand, as Guests of Honor of the Fair, will hold opening ceremony for their exhibition pavilions. Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Hebi, Xinxiang, Jiaozuo, Puyang, Xuchang, Luohe, Shangqiu, Zhoukou, and Jiyuan will host 11 special events that reflect their industrial development directions.
On April 10-11, an open day event will be offered. Citizens can make a visit by showing their ID cards and purchase goods.
The 13th CIFIT has an exhibition area of 54,000 square meters, consisting of export commodity exhibition zone, import commodity exhibition zone, international cooperation exhibition zone, service industry exhibition zone, intelligent manufacturing and service exhibition zone.
412 overseas exhibitors will attend the event. The 2018 CHIFIT attracted around 400 exhibitors, securing investment RMB 4 billion; this year, 1,061 domestic and overseas enterprises have applied for attendance.
The import commodity exhibition will show products from 31 countries. It will exist as a platform of trade and investment cooperation for home and abroad businessmen, and enable local products to go to other parts of the country and even go global.

Ever-expanded "friend circle" of Henan
The Fair is showing ever-stronger appeal. Up to now, 15,700 businessmen have confirmed to attend the Fair. Among them, there are more than 13,000 domestic businessmen, as well as 2,566 overseas businessmen from 88 countries and regions. Three foreign politicians, 21 foreign guests of provincial and state level, and 20 foreign ambassadors, envoys, counselors, and consuls have also been invited for the event. 14 economy and trade delegations will be formed by guests from Hubei Province, Heilongjiang Province, Hunan Province, Sichuan Province, Shaanxi Province, Shanxi Province, Guangxi Province, Jilin Province, Yunnan Province, Shandong Province, Liaoning Province, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and other provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities.
To enhance its global dimension, the Fair features foreign businessmen, and will invite Fortune Global 500 companies and transnationals to expand the scale of the import commodity exhibition. It will invite nearly 60 senior executives of Fortune Global 500 companies and transnationals, such as Oracle, LG, General Electric, and UBS. It will also invite over 100 senior executives from domestic top 500 companies and industrial leaders, such as Huawei, Inspur, Gree, JD, China National Nuclear Corporation, and Evergrande.
At the same time, 43 academicians at home and abroad, Nobel laureates, university presidents, well-known experts and scholars will deliver speeches; 68 heads of domestic and foreign business associations will lead their delegations for the event; more than 10 famous business associations will actively co-sponsor the Fair.
Cooperation Projects to be Signed
One Third of Projects with unit amount exceeding RMB 1 billion
Among the projects to be signed during the Fair, one third of them are worth over RMB 1 billion. Cooperation projects of higher quality can be found in new energy, intelligent manufacturing, modern logistics, finance, environmental protection, cultural tourism, and She economy.
At the CHIFIT, greater efforts will be made to promote the export and trade of Henan's commodities, including hair products, distinctive agricultural and sideline products, and mechanical manufacturing products. The Fair has confirmed the invitation of 300-plus world-famous purchasers. What's more, over 4,400 people have registered at the online purchasing and signing platform of the Fair.
To make the Fair more targeted, it will highlight cooperation with Europe, US, Japan, South Korea, and countries along the Belt and Road when it comes to foreign cooperation, and underline cooperation with the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta, and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei when it comes to domestic cooperation. Efforts will be made to realize overall arrangement of import exhibition zone and export exhibition zone, overall design of exhibition and business discussion, and deep integration of investment and trade. In balancing investment and trade, more emphasis will be given to trade promotion, and efforts will be made to deliver a successful import-export commodity exhibition.

Multiple measures to ensure safety and security
Zhengzhou has enhanced its city appearance, set up slogans at major spots, roads, airport, subway, buses, taxis, and played publicity videos to build a lively atmosphere. As for safety and security, the Department of Public Security of Henan Province has worked out detailed security plan and urban traffic management plan, and made overall arrangements on security, traffic, fire-fighting, and anti-terrorism. Meanwhile, administrative departments and service agencies, such as those in emergency, medical care, epidemic prevention, power, communications, meteorology, railway, airport, bus, and subway, have also made elaborate preparations to ensure services.
Thanks to the joint efforts of relevant national ministries and commissions, provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities), home and abroad investment and trade agencies, and famous chambers of commerce, 12 sessions of CHIFIT have been hosted. As such, it has become a national event with great influence, an international investment and trade promotion fair, as well as a key platform for Henan Province to expand opening-up and intensify trade and economic cooperation.
