In a week or so, tens of thousands of businessmen and honored guests from all over the world will gather in Zhengzhou for the annual "Spring Appointment" - the 13th China (Henan) International Investment and Trade Fair (CHIFIT). On March 31, Zhang Yanming, Director of the Organizing Committee Office of CHIFIT and of the Henan Provincial Department of Commerce, was requested in an interview to introduce the characteristics, significance, as well as the latest progress in businessmen-inviting and exhibition arrangement of this fair.
As for this fair's changes, Zhang Yanming said that it is no longer a pure investment negotiation, but an investment and trade negotiation, as the fair has added import and export commodity exhibitions since last year. Compared with the fair in the previous year, the integration of investment and trade has been further deepened, the scope and categories of import-export commodity exhibitions have been further expanded, and the scope, industries and fields of import-export enterprises have been expanded as well. The purpose is simple, just to expand the export of products "Made in Henan" and introduce more high-quality and low-cost consumer goods.
As for the hosts, the level of this fair, co-hosted by the People's Government of Henan Province, Ministry of Commerce of China, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, is getting higher-end.
"The combination of investment negotiation and commodity import-export transactions actually promotes the comprehensive benefits of investment, cooperation and trade. The co-sponsorship of the Ministry of Commerce of China and Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries helps further upgrade the fair to a higher end so that it will exercise a stronger international influence", Zhang Yanming added.
What is the significance of the fair to Henan?
Zhang Yanming said that Henan's degree of internationalization and extroversion should be further enhanced, and Henan's development, beauty and revitalization need to be demonstrated to the world through an international economic and trade platform.
At the same time, Henan's "inviting in" and "going out" need channels, windows and platforms to promote the communication, integration and cooperation of domestic and foreign trade. The fair is a large platform to promote the integration of investment and trade between countries and between regions, which is conducive to Henan's further opening up.
What is the current progress and characteristics of businessmen-inviting?
Zhang Yanming stated that this year's businessmen-inviting is more accurate, more targeted and more highly-directional. For example, many Fortune Global 500 enterprises, top 500 enterprises in China, industry-leading enterprises, listed companies, famous international business associations, economy and trade organizations and international organizations have been invited this year. Through higher-end inviting, enterprises and projects will have greater international and industrial influence. In addition, inviting a large number of senior executives to attend the fair will also promote the cooperation and exchanges between Henan enterprises and them.
It is learned that the senior executives of Fortune Global 500 enterprises and multinational corporations, including German Henkel, Japanese Sumitomo Corporation and the U.S. YUM Group, the senior executives of China's top 500 enterprises and industry-leading enterprises, including COFCO Group, JD and Red Star Macalline, and those of the world-known enterprises, including the U.S. EATON and the Luxembourg Cargolux, will attend the fair.
Up to now, more than 15,000 businessmen have confirmed their participation, including foreign dignitaries from many countries, as well as more than 1,600 overseas businessmen from 82 countries and regions around the world.
Zhang Yanming also briefed the characteristics of this year's investment projects. This year, more attention has been paid to attracting new-mode projects and high-end projects which will help Henan respectively adjust and upgrade its industrial structure, such as high-end manufacturing, precision machinery, Internet, bio-medicine, modern agriculture, modern service industry, finance, and so on.
Among the more than 3000 investment projects identified in Henan Province, there are about 1500 manufacturing industry projects, about 1500 service industry projects and about 300 modern agriculture projects. On the whole, the quality of investment promotion of this fair is much higher than that of previous years.
Zhang Yanming made special mention of the import-export commodity exhibition. Last year, 200 enterprises of Henan Province participated in the export commodity exhibition. This year, more than 700 enterprises made their applications. Limited by the exhibition and presentation area, only 400 enterprises were allowed.
