The Matchmaking for China (Henan)-German Economic and Trade Cooperation 2019 was held in Wanda Vista Zhengzhou in the afternoon of April 8th. It is learnt that this matchmaking conference is of great significance for developing the export-oriented economy in Henan and strengthening the economic and trade cooperation with the BRI ("Belt and Road" Initiative) countries, especially Germany.
Germany will also enhance its ties with Henan in fields of industry, agriculture and environmental protection.
During the matchmaking conference, the Henan Provincial Commerce Department signed strategic cooperation agreements with the German Chamber of Commerce and Fresenius Medical Care, one of the world's top 500 enterprises, respectively. Changge municipal government also signed a cooperation agreement on the stainless-steel dust removal project with Befesa Group.
In this cooperation, Befesa plans to invest USD 50 million to newly establish a stainless-steel dust removal project able to recycle and process 110,000 tons of such dust annually in Xuchang Dazhou Industry Centralization Area, which is aimed to treat the wastes generated in the process of metal cycling. This move will further extend the chain of secondary metal machining industry in Xuchang and guarantee the development of this industry in a sustainable manner.
"This is our first wholly-owned project in Henan. We appreciate the sound policies and regulations and good business environment in Henan. We will do well here." Javier Molina, CEO of Befesa SA, told reporters.
At the conference, participants held keynote dialogues themed "New Opportunities for Henan Province" and "Current and Future Situations of Technical Cooperation between China's Henan and Germany", and the enterprises of both sides held constructive docking talks. Representatives of some German leading manufacturing enterprises and institutions went to Xuchang for exchange and inspection.
It is reported that the matchmaking conference is a large economic and trade event specially targeted at Germany in recent years. The participants in the meeting included government representatives from Lahn-Dill-Kreis, the most developed industrial region in Germany, as well as representatives from vocational education in universities, agricultural technology enterprises, energy technology, health care and management of industrial parks.

He Songhao, deputy head of Henan Provincial Commerce Department, said, "China and Germany are long-time friends. Germany is China's largest trading partner in Europe and an important source of capital and technology. Germany is also one of the developed countries most valued by Henan enterprises, and Henan attaches great importance to the cooperation with Germany."
Statistics showed that by the end of January 2019, Germany has invested and established 93 enterprises in Henan Province, covering the fields of manufacturing, business and trade services and chemical industry with an actual investment of USD 1.62 billion. In addition, Henan Province has invested and established more than 30 enterprises in Germany, with an agreed investment of USD 950 million. Zhengzhou Coal Mining Machinery Group Co., Ltd. (ZMJ), Link Global, Xuchang Dasen Engineering and many other enterprises have settled in Germany through investment, mergers and acquisitions. China (Henan) Pilot Free Trade Zone, relying on Germany's Parchim International Airport and Bonded Economic Cooperation Zone, has established the first overseas free trade cooperation zone, "Henan - Parchim Free Trade Cooperation Zone". Henan Province has set up the first European public overseas warehouse in Germany.
During the conference, Rudolf Albert Scharping, former Defense Minister of Germany and Chairman of RSBK, said, "An increasingly open China is of great importance to the whole world. China is actively expanding market access, and German enterprises are ready to establish closer ties with Henan."
It is learnt that since the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with Xuchang City in January 2016, RSBK has actively organized the matchmaking cooperation between Chinese and German enterprises, established economic and trade links between Xuchang and German economic organizations and government agencies and enhanced Xuchang's influence in Germany and even in Europe. Such cooperation yielded fruitful results. Up to now, Xuchang has cumulatively signed 63 cooperation agreements with Germany, 21 of which have been implemented or under way, involving a wide range of fields such as investment cooperation, technology research and development, equipment introduction and vocational education.
According to the survey of German enterprises in China in 2018, China has been Germany's largest trading partner for three consecutive years by 2018, and China is one of the top three markets for most German enterprises.

"Henan is a large province in central China and the most populous province in China. It boasts rich labor and land resources, which is very helpful for developing manufacturing industry. The Dual Vocational Training between China and Germany is an important part of bilateral cooperation, which can not only improve laborers' skills, but also promote the economic cooperation between the two countries.
