On the morning of April 8, the opening ceremony for the 13th China Henan International Investment & Trade Fair (CHIITF) themed on " Opening-up and Cooperation, Brilliant Central Plain " was held at Zhengzhou International Conference and Exhibition Center. Nearly 20,000 merchants and guests from all over the world gathered in the Central Plains to share business opportunities and seek common development.
Many officials and business leaders attended the opening ceremony, including Wang Guosheng, Secretary of Henan Provincial Party Committee; Chen Runer, Deputy Secretary of Henan Provincial Party Committee and the Governor of Henan Province; Liu Wei, Chairman of the CPPCC of Henan Province; Yu Hongqiu, Deputy Secretary of Henan Provincial Party Committee; Li Chenggang, member of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Commerce and Assistant Minister; Lu Pengqi, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade; Hu Sishe, Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Li Jiaxiang, Leader of the fourth division of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Environmental Protection Supervision Committee and the former Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
At 10 o'clock in the morning, Wang Guosheng, the Secretary of Henan Provincial Party Committee, announced the opening of the 13th China Henan International Investment & Trade Fair. Chen Runer, Li Chenggang, Lu Pengqi, and Hu Sishe delivered speeches successively.
According to reports, this year's CHIITF attracted a record-high number of people to attend the Fair, covering more than 40 governors, ministers, ambassadors and embassy officials from 88 countries or regions, and representatives of international organizations, more than 170 senior executives from the world's top 500 enterprises and a group of multinational corporations and leading enterprises, over 90 domestic and foreign well-known business association presidents and leaders of trade and investment promotion agencies, and 43 domestic and foreign academicians, university presidents, well-known experts and scholars.
Chen Runer, the Deputy Secretary of Henan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Governor, addressed that under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, Henan Province fully implemented the guidelines from the 19th National Party Congress and the princilpes from General Secretary Xi Jingping's major addresses in Henan, coordinating and promoting "Four Steps" and taking four development measures so that the province has maintained stable, progressive and sound economic and social development. In 2018, the total output value of Henan Province reached RMB 4.8 trillion, an increase of 7.6% over the previous year, ranking fifth across the country; the total value of imports and exports was RMB 551.3 billion, ranking first in the central region. Henan Province has established economic and trade relationships with more than 200 countries and regions, attracting investment of 129 enterprises among the Fortune 500 companies. In particular, Henan has been deeply integrated into the Belt and Road Initiative, and made efforts in actively expanding opening up, creating an open platform, improving the environment for opening up, and therefore, fostering a new opening pattern coordinating "four Silk Roads" and realizing collaborative development of "Five Parks". Henan is keeping on opening wider and faster with better opening environment, and Henan has been the most attractive destination for investment.
Chen Runer said that China Henan International Investment and Trade Fair has been successfully held for 12 sessions, and it has an impact over a wide area. With the theme of " Opening-up and Cooperation, Brilliant Central Plain ", this year's CHIITF will further be more international, high-end and precise, and will create more business opportunities for domestic and foreign merchants and guests to realize business match-making and achieve win-win progress. Henan will unswervingly implement the opening strategy and provide a convenient and efficient government environment, an open and fair market environment, a just and transparent legal environment, and a reliable credit-based environment. And we will share opportunities with friends from all walks of life, seek common development and create a better future.
Mr.Kanit Sangsubhan, Secretary General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand, said that under the economic initiative of the Eastern Economic Corridor, the interconnection between Thailand and Henan Province, especially between that of Zhengzhou and Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, should be strengthened so that Henan and Eastern Economic Corridor can benefit the most from such interconnection. In this way, the investment and trade between our two sides can be truly promoted to a higher level.
The CHIITF of this session actively integrates itself into "the Belt and Road", being international, high-end and precise, and focusing on special promotion, industrial connection, project negotiation and exhibition. It strives to create a high-level investment and production cooperation platform, promote internal and external interaction, and form a new pattern yielding mutual benefit and win-win results.
Remarkably, this year's CHIITF arranged two Guest Countries, that is, Thailand and Hungary, which is an attempt for the first time. It established national pavilions for the Guest Countries, five major exhibition areas and twelve special events involving modern logistics, biomedicine, cultural tourism and healthcare, with plentiful products and abundant contents. On April 10 to 11, an open day event will be offered. Citizens can make a visit by showing their ID cards and purchase goods.
