"Henan Opportunity" keeps brightening the background, and many Asia-Pacific countries have expressed their love for it. On the afternoon of April 8, the 2019 Asian Economic Development Summit was held in Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre, and appeared at the Henan International Investment & Trade Fair for the first time. Senior politicians from some Asian countries, ambassadors to China, heads of well-known business associations and chambers and 400 guests from Chinese and foreign enterprises gathered here to have full discussions on the opening of direct flights to Zhengzhou, visa facilitation, the expanding of Belt and Road Initiative's cooperation scope, transnational investment, and other facets.

"Let's open direct flights!" French and Malaysian delegates initiated an offer on the spot.

"It's a pity that there are no direct flights between Zhengzhou and Malaysia. We should do something as soon as possible." Guo Yimin, a director of Malaysia-China Business Council, said that he has already reported this issue to AirAsia (the second international airlines in Malaysia, hereinafter referred to as AirAsia) and AirAsia is expected to provide a solution soon.

Zhang Yanming, the head of the Henan Provincial Department of Commerce, also said at the summit that direct flight is a good choice. Since Zhengzhou opened direct flights to Thailand, it has exported a steady stream of passengers to Thailand. Henan has become a major guest source for traveling and business cooperation in Thailand.

The delegates from many countries in Asia, and even the world, are surprised to the development speed of China's inland provinces. Henan, with a population of 100 million and a consumption scale of over RMB two trillion, is the fifth largest economy in China. It has an annual GDP of nearly RMB five trillion, and its economic growth rate in last year remained at 7.6%.

"First, Direct flights; Second, Have trade relations; third, Cultural exchange." As Guo Yimin suggested at the summit, he introduced that Malaysia is a solid partner to the Belt and Road Initiative, and about 90% Malaysians can speak Chinese, radiating 600 million people in Southeast Asia. So, it's easy for them to feel close to Henan.

In addition to Malaysia, France also hopes to open direct flights to Zhengzhou. Philippe RIGHINI, the First Counsellor and Consul-General of French Embassy in China, said that France is looking forward to China's tourism consumption dividends. France hopes to attract 100 million global visitors yearly by 2020, so Henan, China's most populous province, is of course an important potential source of tourists. The French Embassy in China plans to open a visa center in Zhengzhou with a mobile biometric fingerprint collection service in Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, so as to realize the 48-hour visa processing for Henan people as soon as possible. At the same time, France welcomes Henan tourists to visit Paris and focus on the 2019 Women's World Cup, and 2024 World Paralympics.

To ensure that Henan is open enough, the key is to optimizing the efficiency of business environment in Henan.

Henan's 40-year reform and opening up cannot be separated from the cooperation with Asian countries.

At the summit on that day, several Henan's government institutions sent a positive signal that in 2018, nearly half of the foreign investments in Henan came from Asian countries or regions. To this end, Henan will also do more to benefit Asia-Pacific countries.

And this signal received a positive response from the Chinese and foreign guests at the summit.

Ken Smith, the chairman of the Australia China Business Council, said that Australia enjoys abundant metal minerals and coal, dairy products, red wine and other resources in its land of 7.7 million square kilometers, and welcomes Henan enterprises to invest in Australia. At the same time, it also hopes that Henan can provide a good business environment and healthy business communication for Australian enterprises to invest in Henan.

As for the "next step" of Henan's opening-up, Luo Xiang, chief representative of the UN Office for Project Services in Beijing, also picked out "problems". Luo Xiang said that there is no doubt that Henan's economic and social comprehensive charm, development potential and construction capacity are obvious to all in China. However, Henan still faces insufficient ideological emancipation, innovation ability of enterprises and open space. "For example, some competent organizations in Henan will first refer to similar policies or cases in Jiangsu and Zhejiang before handling the implementation plan of new projects."

In response, Zhang Yanming said that Henan has set a clear strategic direction for optimizing the regional business environment, that is, targeting at the world's highest standards and creating an international business environment. In fact, on the first day of work after the Spring Festival this year, the provincial Party Committee and government held the first meeting on discussing the optimization of regional business environment. At present, Henan is enpowered by the central government to build a new highland for inland opening. The "Five Areas" linkage and the "Four Roads" coordination have made Henan's "starting point" for expanding opening up solid and powerful. As an inland province, Henan's power and potential for future development lie in its opening up, while the opening up lies in its business environment. Only in line with the international first-class business environment can it effectively expand its opening up. Moreover, let our partners have the opportunity to earn money and have prospects in Henan.
