The whole year's work depends on a good start in spring. Zhengzhou in April is full of vitality. During the 13th China Henan International Investment & Trade Fair, Dialogue on Construction of Henan-Hong Kong International Logistics Hub jointly organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Henan Provincial Commerce Department, Zhengzhou Airport Economic Comprehensive Experimental Zone Management Committee, Henan Logistics Association, and Henan International Freight Forwarders Association was held in Zhengzhou on the afternoon of April 8, 2019.
The dialogue was hosted by Yang Xinsheng, Deputy Inspector of the General Office of the Henan Provincial Government. About 300 people including the leaders and guests from within and without the province, and those on behalf of foreign chambers of commerce, enterprises, universities and colleges, and commercial authorities in the province attended such as Xu Guang, Vice Governor of Henan Province, Zhao Huxiang, President of China International Freight Forwarders Association, Mr. Suwit Ratanachinda, senior vice president of FIATA and director of the Thai International Freight Forwarders Association, He Jianrong, Chief Representative of Hong Kong Trade Development Council for North and Northeast China, Cui Zhongfu, Vice President and Secretary General of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing, Yun Mian, Vice President of China Society of Logistics, Wang Jun from Henan Provincial Commerce Department, Lin Yinghong, Vice President of the Chamber of Hong Kong Logistics Industry, and Huang Guoqiang, Vice President of HAFFA and President of the Greater China Affairs Group, and Executive Director of Zhunjie Freight Co., Ltd.
Xu Guang, He Jianrong, Zhao Huxiang, Cui Zhongfu, Wang Jun, Lin Yinghong, Deng Wenjing, and Huang Guoqiang delivered speeches or made promotional presentations. Speakers expressed views and discussed the advantages of Henan and Hong Kong and their potential in cooperation given the current development of the logistics industry and the construction of the international logistics hub.
The attendees believed that it is a good and rare opportunity for Henan and Hong Kong to fortify the cooperation and exchanges in the field of logistics as the “rise of central China” strategy is implemented, the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area is promoted, Henan is included into the Belt and Road Initiative, an inland region for opening up and a modern integrated transportation hub are being built, the economic connection between Hong Kong and mainland China is closer, and a new economic growth point is explored. The logistics industry in Hong Kong has been world’s leading in terms of scale, technology, efficiency and management. Mainland China may learn from the successful experience and model of it. Henan Province enjoys a unique geographical advantage, a comprehensive transportation advantage, great opportunities from national policies, a solid platform for opening up, and long-term friendship and frequent economic and trade cooperation with Hong Kong. It is good for both Henan and Hong Kong to cooperate in building the international logistics hub. Revolving around "opening up and cooperation," Henan and Hong Kong will join hands for collaborative development and mutual benefit toward a rosy future.
Then two dialogues were held between people in charge of the foreign chambers of commerce in China and representatives of leading enterprises in logistics and freight, regarding “the opportunities and key points for the coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and the inland hub of Zhengzhou under the framework of the strategy for the development of national hub economy,” “suggestions and matters that need attention concerning Henan’s building of a logistics system for the inland hub supply chain with ‘channel + hub + network’,” “opportunities and challenges facing logistics enterprises in Henan and Hong Kong based on the coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the inland hub of Zhengzhou,” and “countermeasures and plans of an enterprise when faced with a rare opportunity for development.” Various forms of exchanges were carried out to gather ideas, mutual learning and build consensus. Great ideas were brought forward to create a new pattern for cooperation in the logistics industry between Henan and Hong Kong, and help build Henan into a leading province in terms of modern logistics in the whole industry chain.
The person in charge of relevant departments of Henan Province said that in the new era, the logistics industry in Henan will become a new engine for economic growth. Henan Province will be oriented toward the future, give priority to the development of logistics industry, make good use of the leading edge of its characteristic logistics, and firmly grasp the opportunities from industrial transformation, consumption upgrading and rapid development of e-commerce, so as to transform itself to a competitive player in terms of quality instead of quantity in the logistics industry.
From shore to shore it seems wide at high tide, before fair wind a single sail is lifting. Henan will, by dint of the 13th China Henan International Investment & Trade Fair, start fresh and embrace the logistics enterprises at home and abroad which invest in Henan and lay out plans for the Central Plains. Henan will further enhance the level of openness with more active and pragmatic measures, continue to tap the market potential, accelerate the investment and trade facilitation and reform to streamline administration and institute decentralization, and optimize services, create an international environment for business and a thick atmosphere to “reassure, endear, and benefit merchants,” provide more quality services for logistics enterprises, and jointly create a new pattern for the development of the logistics industry with mutual benefit and a win-win result.
