On April 8, Asian Economic Development Summit 2019 was launched at Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Khek Sysoda, Cambodian Ambassador to China, gave a speech at the summit.
He expressed that China proposed the Belt and Road Initiative. Both China and Cambodia have long history and as ancient civilizations, the two countries have influenced and learnt from each other for a long time. Last year, Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of China, and Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia exchanged visits with each other, achieving more cooperation agreements with the other country. Here, I would like to reiterate my support to our cooperation and give my appreciation to the key role China has played in the regional and global development under the Belt and Road Initiative. Connecting Asia, Europe and Africa, the initiative works like a network for trade and infrastructures along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.
Henan province, located in the central part of China, is the birthplace of Chinese civilization. It is not only a significant province in Chinese history and culture, but also a major agricultural and industrial province. Gladly, we noticed that Zhengzhou, capital of Henan, was listed as one of the nine National Central Cities in China and Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone is also the first national airport economy project of China. We congratulate Henan on its achievements. There are six non-stop flights from Zhengzhou to the major cities in Cambodia every week and we are glad to see that the Chinese-Cambodian tourism has witnessed smooth development. The number of Chinese tourists to Cambodia in 2018 reached 1.9 million, and is expected to grow to more than 2.5 million in 2019. According to the optimal estimation, there will be 8 million Chinese tourists paying visits to Cambodia in 2030. Undoubtedly, Henan, as one of the provinces with the most population in China in the central part of country, occupies an important place in the Chinese-Cambodian tourism. That is why the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia decides to establish a representative office in Zhengzhou for not only directly solving the problems bothering Chinese tourists, but also providing better services for tourists from Central China, like the facilitation services for tourists when they apply for visas from the Cambodian embassy in China.
