[CHIITF Event]Economic and Trade Exchange of Henan-Thailand Eastern Economic Corridor Held in Zhengzhou

On the morning of April 9, the Economic and Trade Exchange of Henan-Thailand Eastern Corridor was held in the Noble International Hotel, Zhengzhou City. Political and business representatives and media on Chinese and Thai sides, totaling 260, were present at the meeting.

Liu Wei, Vice-Governor of Henan Provincial People’s Government, delivered a speech at the meeting. Vice-Governor Liu indicated in his address that the economic and social development of Henan keeps a sound momentum. The opening up of the province remains on a smooth road, and environment is getting better. To date, 170 enterprises have been invested and established by Thai businesses in Henan with the foreign investment in actual use reaching USD 1.22 billion, involving mining, machinery, real estate, food processing and catering service, among other fields. In 2018, the volume of Henan’s imports from and exports to Thailand registered RMB 5.78 billion, and especially, the export volume hit RMB 3.98 billion.

Vice-Governor Liu said, for the first time, the establishment of two Guests of Honor this year, namely, Thailand and Hungary, will certainly further promote the cooperation between Henan and Thailand in culture, trade, machinery manufacturing, food processing and other fields, and make the two jointly foster new highlights and create a new chapter for the development of China and Thailand and the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Ms Luxmon Attapich, Deputy Secretary General of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office of Thailand, expressed that the EEC, a new economic center of Southeast Asia, covers China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and other countries, and involves production, trade, export, transportation and other aspects. Ms Luxmon Attapich also introduced the well-established EEC facilities, special projects in industrial promotional zone, exclusive EEC investment areas and preferential investment policies exclusive to the EEC.

At the meeting, Wang Chunshan, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, and Wu Yiyi, Director of Shanghai Office of the Board of Investment of Thailand, Vellaciae, Chairman of China-Thailand Corporate Cooperation Committee, Liu Chao, President of Henan Chamber of Commerce, Thailand and other political and business representatives on both sides also gave speeches. At last, participants on both sides joined in the B2B exchanges concerning their interested fields.
