It is 14 days before the inauguration of the 12th China (Henan) International Investment and Trade Fair. This CHIITF centered on the general situation of Henan’s development and arranged six key activities and 10 special activities. Among those activities, China-Luxemburg (Zhengzhou-Luxemburg) Air Silk Road Economic and Trade Cooperation Summit 2018 is attracting much attention.
Why we hold this summit?
“The Air Silk Road, the Land Silk Road and the Internet Silk Road of Henan province are pushed forward wholeheartedly. The focus of this activity is to advance the Air Silk Road construction.” said Zhang Yanming, Director of the Organization Committee Office for this CHIITF and Director of the Department of Commerce of Henan province to the reporter. After the People’s government of Henan and Luxemburg signed the cooperation agreement, the economic and trade exchanges between both parties have been enhanced. The potential of Zhengzhou-Luxemburg Air Silk Road has been revealed. To further promote the Silk Road construction, this year, the CHIITF specifically arranged the Zhengzhou-Luxemburg Air Silk Road Summit. As the largest and highest profile economic and trade activity with the highest standard to be held in Henan province in 2018, this CHIITF will highlight the internationality, pertinence and effectiveness.
What is the basis?
It is safe to say that China-Luxemburg Summit created new development opportunities for Henan to quicken the China-Luxemburg Air Silk Road construction and to enhance the bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Zhengzhou, Henan is in the center of Chinese mainland and Luxemburg at the heart of Europe. These two centers, one linking the active East Asia Economic Rim, and the other connecting the developed European Economic Circle enjoy similar locational conditions and relatively mature air transport systems. For the past few years, the airport economic industries in Henan province have developed rapidly and have achieved the situation of “integration of three networks”, namely the rail network, the road network and the air network and of “four-port linkage”, namely the airport, rail port, and land port. All of these provide firm support for the cooperation between Henan and Luxemburg. In last June, General Secretary Xi Jinping made it clear in his meeting with Prime Minister of Luxemburg Xavier Bettel that the country will support the construction of Zhengzhou-Luxemburg Air Silk Road. Henan province and Luxemburg have reached an important consensus on jointly advancing the Zhengzhou-Luxemburg Air Silk Road construction, which officially upgrades this strategy to the state level.
Now, apart from the frequent interaction between senior governmental officials in Henan province and Luxemburg, Henan and Luxemburg also have carried out extensive cooperation in fields such as air transportation, cross-border e-commerce, financial service and economic and trade exchange.
What are the specific arrangements?
China-Luxemburg (Zhengzhou-Luxemburg) Air Silk Road Economic and Trade Cooperation Summit 2018 is to be held at G Charli Nobel International Hotel on the afternoon of April 17 in Zhengzhou. This summit includes a seminar on the development planning of China-Luxemburg (Zhengzhou-Luxemburg) Air Silk Road Economic and Trade Cooperation and thematic referrals about Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone. Then, politicians from Luxemburg and other European countries, experts and scholars, senior representatives from famous business associations and companies including passenger-freight airlines, logistics firms and financial enterprises will be invited to attend the China-Luxemburg Economic and Trade Summit and discuss issues on how to further expand the cooperation fields, deepen cooperation contents, improve the “dual hub” function and quicken the establishment of European Countries Visa Application Center in Zhengzhou with respect to Zhengzhou-Luxemburg Air Silk Road and conduct thematic cooperation in key areas, striving to achieve real progress in both parties’ economic and trade cooperation.
