The annual China (Henan) International Investment & Trade Fair is around the corner. On March 2, the Information Office of Henan Provincial People’s Government unveiled that the 13th China (Henan) International Investment & Trade Fair (hereinafter referred to as “CHIITF (Henan)”) would be held in Zhengzhou from April 8 to 11, 2018. The People’s Government of Henan Province will hold the event, along with the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. 2019 Ancestor Worship Ceremony in Hometown of Yellow Emperor is expected to be carried out at the same time. It is worth noting that the 13th CHIITF (Henan) is going to invite Hungary as the Guest of Honor, and will be the most prominent economic and trade event of the highest standard and the largest scale held by Henan Province in 2019.
13 Thematic Activities with Parallel Session in Luoyang
As a state-level international economic and trade event, the CHIITF (Henan) has been successfully held for 12 consecutive years. It now is a significant platform for Henan Province to promote opening-up. Then, what is new about this years’ CHIITF (Henan)?
The press conference held on March 2 released the theme as “Opening-up and Cooperation, Brilliant Central Plain”. Apart from four major activities, the 13th CHIITF (Henan) comprises the ones held by the Guest of Honor and other sister provinces (prefectures), 13 thematic activities and several special professional activities organized by the governments of cities and counties of Henan Province, by other provinces and cities and by major enterprises. Additionally, it will set up a parallel session in Luoyang, supporting provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) to carry out concerning activities there.
Opening Ceremony of the 13th CHIITF (Henan), as one of the major activities, is supposed to be held on April 8 in Xuanyuan Hall of Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Meanwhile, Chinese people and businessmen of interest can participate in the 2019 Ancestor Worship Ceremony in Hometown of Yellow Emperor on April 7. Cities directly under the People’s Government of Henan Province, counties (cities and districts) and Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone should invite attending businessmen to make on-site investigation and negotiation.
What’s important is that in this year, there will be 13 thematic activities, including the Asian Economic Development Summit and China (Henan)—UK Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference.
6 Exhibition Areas Covering over 50,000 Square Meters
Another priority of Organizing Committee of the 13th CHIITF (Henan), besides preparing for normal thematic forums, is ensuring the successful opening of products exhibition. The event is settled down at the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre. It is expected to occupy 10 exhibition halls, of which 6 are at the first floor and 4 the second, covering a total area of 54,000 square meters. The exhibition is divided into Comprehensive Area, Export Commodity Area, Import Commodity Area, Service Industry Area, Intelligent Manufacturing and Service Area and Integrated Service Area.
Comprehensive Area, the largest one with a planning area of about 20,000 square meters, will incorporate Henan Opening-up Achievements Exhibition, Exhibition and Negotiation Zone for Cities directly under the People’s Government of Henan Province, International Cooperation Exhibition and Regional Cooperation Exhibition. Foreign companies, import-oriented companies, e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce companies are going to be situated in the Import Commodity Area.
This CHIITF (Henan) sets up an Exhibition and Negotiation Zone for Cities directly under the People’s Government of Henan Province, centering on Export/Import Commodity Areas and integrating exhibition, project matchmaking with negotiation and contract signing. It is an innovation in form. The exhibition has become a platform for Henan to realize its strategy of “buying globally and selling globally”. Meanwhile, the Province can avail itself of this opportunity to show international investors and brands its robust purchasing power and growth engine.
The number of investment projects has reached 3,509, which focuses on accuracy and effectiveness
The quality of preparatory work of CHIITF (Henan) indicates the effectiveness of the event; therefore, the Organizing Committee has attached great importance to the accuracy as well as effectiveness.
The number of investment projects has reached 3,509, of which 1,576 belongs to modern service industry, 1,578 advanced manufacturing and 355 modern agriculture. Actually, these projects involve such fields as equipment manufacturing, biopharmacy, electronic information, cultural tourism, modern logistics, modern agriculture and finance.
It’s reported that the 12th CHIITF (Henan) covered a total exhibition area of 33,000 square meters, attracted over 60,000 visitors, established Export/Import Commodity Areas for the first time and realized new achievements in integration of exhibition with sale. According to incomplete statistics, the total amount reached through contracts, agreements and intentions at the last session totaled 6.313 billion yuan.
Being International, the 13th CHIITF (Henan) Welcomes Multiple Politicians and Businessmen from Foreign Countries
A key indicator of the CHIITF (Henan)’s influence is the number of attending businessmen, especially high-level ones. Who will come to the 13th CHIITF (Henan)?
Former politicians and officials at ministry- or provincial-level from countries like Austria, Hungary, the South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Georgia initially confirmed to participate; some ambassadors to China intended to attend the event; Wallonia of Belgium, Washington State and California State of the United States, Parchim of Germany and Asti of Italy will also send delegations to Zhengzhou.
The 13th CHIITF (Henan) plans to invite Hungary to be the Guest of Honor, and Wallonia of Belgium and other sister provinces (prefectures) to hold activities like Opening Ceremony of the Guest of Honor Hall, and Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference of the Guest of Honor and Sister Provinces (Prefectures) respectively.
In addition, senior executives from Fortune Global 500 companies and transnational corporations, including Hankel, Siemens, Sumitomo Corporation, Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Chia Tai Group, Banpu Public Company Limited and Yum! Brands, Inc., will come to the event. And those from Top 500 Enterprises of China, such as JD.com., Suning.com, Inspur, China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd., China National Building Materials Company Limited, Evergrande, Wanda Group, BYD, East Hope Group, Shenzhen Neptunus Group Co., Ltd., Red Star Macalline Group Co., Ltd., Heungkong Group, China South City Holdings, OCT Group and Guangzhou Pharmaceuticals Corporation, will also participate. China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and other organizations will also send delegations to the 13th CHIITF (Henan).
